Privacy Policy

Guryo Hub (“Guryo Hub”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a property rental and sales marketplace for Eastleigh, Nairobi, Kenya. We operate the website guryohub.com and the Guryo Hub mobile app for Android and iOS (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service.

• Account details: your email address, phone number (required for owners, optional for renters) and a password. Your password is stored only as a secure hash. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier from Google. We never receive your Google password.
• Profile details you choose to add: your first and last name.
• Listing information (owners, caretakers and agents): property details, prices, location, photos, and a contact name and phone number. Photos you upload are processed and stored on our servers.
• Saved homes: homes you mark as favourites. In the app these are stored on your device. On the website they are stored in your browser.
• Messages you send us on WhatsApp: when you tap Book a viewing or Chat on WhatsApp, WhatsApp opens with a message already written (the home you asked about, or the filters you searched with). WhatsApp then shares your phone number and message with us. WhatsApp is a service of Meta and is governed by its own privacy policy.
• Usage information: which listings are viewed, and when someone taps WhatsApp or Call on a listing. We use an anonymous random identifier stored on your device to avoid counting one person many times. It is not linked to your name unless you are signed in.
• Campaign information: if you arrive through one of our promotional links (for example a link from social media), we record the campaign name, the date, your device type (phone, tablet or computer) and the website you came from, and we remember the campaign so a later signup can be credited to it.
• Technical information: standard server logs such as IP address, browser or app version and time of request, used for security and to keep the Service running.

3. Information from Google

If you choose “Continue with Google”, we use Google Sign-In to verify who you are. We request only your basic profile: your name, your email address and your Google account identifier (the “openid”, “email” and “profile” scopes). We use this information only to create or sign in to your Guryo Hub account, to show your name in the app, and to contact you about your account or enquiries.

Guryo Hub’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not allow people to read it except where needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your consent.

4. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and keep it secure.
• To show verified property listings and let you search, filter and save homes.
• To reply to your WhatsApp messages, confirm that a home is available and arrange viewings.
• To review and verify listings before they are published.
• To show owners how many people viewed or contacted them about a listing.
• To measure how well our promotional links perform.
• To prevent fraud, spam and misuse, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
• To send important notices about your account or about changes to the Service.

5. Property listings and what is public

Listings are reviewed by our team before they appear. A listing’s photos, price, area, description and amenities are public. A listing’s exact address and the owner’s phone number are not shown publicly; our team shares them when you book a viewing, and only as needed to arrange that viewing.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

• With a property owner or caretaker, only the details needed to arrange a viewing you asked for.
• With service providers that help us run the Service, under confidentiality obligations: DigitalOcean (server hosting and database), Vercel (website hosting), Google (sign-in) and Meta WhatsApp (messaging). On iPhone, Apple may provide Sign in with Apple.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the public.

7. Cookies and similar storage

We use browser storage (local storage) and app storage to keep you signed in, remember your saved homes and theme, and hold the anonymous identifier described above. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.

8. How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we must keep some records to follow the law, resolve disputes or prevent fraud. Anonymous usage counts (for example how many times a listing was viewed) may be kept without identifying you.

9. Security

We protect information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls limited to authorised staff, and review of all listings. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and choices

You may access, correct or delete your personal information, and withdraw consent at any time.

To delete your account, open the app, go to Profile and choose Delete account; or on the website go to Profile and request deletion; or email GuryoHub@gmail.com from your account email with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm by email. You can also revoke Guryo Hub’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. If you are in Kenya you also have rights under the Data Protection Act, 2019, including the right to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than Kenya. Where this happens we rely on providers that protect information to a standard consistent with this policy.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and for significant changes we will also notify you in the app or by email.
